Dr. Shannon Doherty

Meet Dr. Shannon

Dr. Shannon’s journey has taken her across the country and around the world. Growing up as an Air Force family member, she lived in several states and spent a few years in Germany before her family eventually settled in Colorado Springs. Her passion for veterinary medicine began to take shape through her love of animals and science.

Dr. Shannon attended Regis University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Neuroscience. She then went on to Colorado State University to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

After graduation, life as a military spouse took Dr. Shannon and her family to Ohio. She began her veterinary career working at a small animal shelter, where she spent six months gaining valuable experience before transitioning into preventative care medicine. The military eventually brought her family back to Colorado Springs, where she was excited to join the team at Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs and return to the community she considers home.

Dr. Shannon has special interests in feline medicine, behavior, neurology, and teaching. She especially enjoys helping pets and their families navigate their unique needs while sharing knowledge and empowering owners to provide the best possible care for their companions.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and their wonderfully eclectic family of pets: Kerfluffle, their Miniature American Shepherd; Artemis, their flamepoint Siamese and resident purr machine; and their two guinea pigs, Gingersnap and Mousse, affectionately known as the “furry potatoes.” When she has time to unwind, Shannon enjoys knitting and playing the piano.
