Dr. Shelby King grew up in Washington state and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Washington State University prior to completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Arizona in 2024.
Her career in veterinary medicine began long before veterinary school, at a small animal clinic in Washington, where she served as a boarding assistant, receptionist, and veterinary assistant. Following graduation, Dr. King returned to the same clinic as a veterinarian and practiced there for two years prior to moving to Colorado Springs.
Client education is central to Dr. King’s approach to practice. She believes that the most sound decisions for a pet's care are those made with full understanding and confidence. Each family's circumstances, priorities, and goals differ, and Dr. King is committed to providing honest, thorough information so that clients can select the approach best suited to their pet and their household.
Dr. King's clinical interests include preventative medicine, senior/geriatric care, oncology, and dermatology, as well as strengthening the human-animal bond through open and compassionate communication.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. King enjoys wildlife photography, painting, reading, and hiking. She shares her life with her significant other, Nathaniel, alongside with their rescue dog named Clover, and a ferret named Rocky.
